This is a great series for all readers, but older children and ‘tweens will enjoy it most. A bibliography lists other great reads that young minds might enjoy. After each story, the author provides additional information about the history of ancient Greece, the gods, and the people involved in the stories. Hades’ book is dark and mysterious with heavy black and purple tones. The color scheme of each books varies depending on the god being discussed – Poseidon’s book is illustrated in cool blues and greens. Beginning with Zeus, this ongoing series examines the lives and histories of the Greek gods. The more serious reader might enjoy George O’Connor’s The Olympians series.
Make sure you examine the backgrounds of each illustrated panel – there’s a lot going on in each story.
